This is a love story. Yes, it is a story about a vintage furniture and estate sales business, but its’ also our love story…
Twin Hearts Vintage Studio, the very name says it all! Two people, two hearts, coming together with a shared love, devotion and passion to support their community and to share their unique gifts with those who seek them.
Of course, that path is never as clear and straightforward as the storybooks suggest. We’ve certainly had our share of learning, growing, shifting, celebrating successes and re-evaluating our goals after what felt like failures along the way. However, some things have always remained a constant, our commitment to each other and to seeing our community supported and uplifted through tough or transitional chapters.
Our services allow us to show up in support of others, while also feeding our passion for re-homing and repurposing previously-loved vintage items. Valuable items that can still bring function, charm and a unique warmth of personality to living and working spaces. It’s a win-win-win, and that’s why we continue to grow and support in these ways.
Susan originally started Twin Hearts creating handmade jewelry and fun, vintage-vibe home decor pieces. However, her love of well-crafted, well-loved furniture started to ignite her further and Twin Hearts began to move into another (more unexpected) direction.
Twin Hearts started small, shifting away from Susan’s initial whimsical jewelry and home decor creations, and into a ‘repurpose-filled, vintage-lovers dream’, dedicated to finding wonderful new homes for all of Susan’s unearthed, reclaimed and refurbished furniture treasures.
Feeling ignited, driven by purpose and inspiration, Susan embraced all the roles needed to bring their vision further to life. A few years past, ongoing successes mounted and it was clearly time for Chris join Susan at Twin Hearts full-time. No longer the (unceasing) background cheerleader he’d always been, his support moved to the foreground along side Susan. Now they joyfully continue to grow Twin Hearts together and haven’t looked back since.
“This business and our passion would not be possible today without our teamwork. We support and encourage each other every step of the way. Chris does the heavy lifting; including carrying the weight of disappointments.” He often also helps with building and upholstery, or taking pieces apart for the creation or building of something new.
“What sets us apart from other vintage entrepreneurs is our eclectic mix of furniture and decor.” We work with many styles; carrying traditional to modern farm house, cottage and cabin-core styles to slightly primitive. Occasionally we also have more modern, minimal, ‘mid-century’ items to showcase. “That’s one of the fun things about hosting estate sales, I get to be the first one to uncover the house’s treasure and see the potential. I buy old pieces and make them new again or morph other pieces into something new — a wooden bench can be made from a vintage bed, a bookcase from vintage drawers. We also have a wide range of Fusion Mineral Paint colors, and I am not afraid to be bold.”
”My basic tenet is to repurpose, revive and rejuvenate. So, I let myself evolve with the business (project) and move forward toward the ultimate goal of having a retail storefront. When I started, I never thought I would take the business this far, so I am optimistic that I will further evolve it down the road.” says Susan.
With great support from customers, like yourself, this passion will continue on. “Not a lot of people can say they do what they love, or are able to work with a partner they love, so I intend to continue to strive to make our business grow, and us with it. We are so incredibly thankful and consider our journey to be an ongoing blessing!”
